Feed Your Healthy Bacteria with Our Prebiotic and Probiotic Supplements

Your gut is an incredibly complex part of your body with a thriving microbiome that includes trillions of bacteria. Balancing your gut bacteria and improving your gut health can be complicated and frustrating if you don’t know where to start. Fortunately, we have you covered with our prebiotic and probiotic supplements.

  • Provide Digestive and Immune Support*

The health of your gut can affect several different bodily functions, including your digestive health and your immune system. Our supplements promote intestinal health and balance by combining a two-product digestive health system that provides dietary support for a normal, healthy intestinal microflora.

  • This two-part system uses prebiotics and probiotics. One delivers healthy bacteria to your gut while the other provides the nutrients these bacteria need to grow and thrive. Let’s take a look at each.

    Optiflora® Pearl Probiotic

First is our Optiflora Pearl Probiotic. This probiotic promotes good digestive health and healthy activity in the intestines. With our patented triple-layer encapsulation, the live probiotic cultures are protected until they reach the large intestine, where they can provide the greatest benefit. Our Pearl Probiotic contains 500 million colony-forming units (CFUs) with two bacterial strains of bifidus and acidophilus. Taking our probiotic supplements is easy. Just take one capsule daily.

    Optiflora Prebiotic Complex

Our Optiflora prebiotic provides the good bacteria in your gut with nutrients that allow them to thrive and balance your gut microflora. We use a blend of fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and inulin along with mixed tocopherols to provide a food source for the bacteria that allows them to multiply and support better digestion and a stronger immune system.* Simply mix a teaspoon of our Prebiotic Complex with 4 ounces or more of liquid and take it with your probiotic capsule.

There are many different strains of bacteria that can be beneficial to your gut. Everyday factors like stress or your diet can decrease the good bacteria and make it harder to keep things balanced. With the right probiotics, you can continue to supply your gut with the good bacteria it needs. That’s why we also offer our Optiflora DI.

  • Reduce Occasional Gas, Bloating, and Constipation*

At Shaklee, we give you various options for your probiotic supplements. The gut is incredibly important, especially when it comes to our immune system. In fact, at least 70% of our immune system is in our gut. With our Optiflora DI, you’ll get our proprietary formula that contains 10 billion CFUs and four different bacterial strains, including Bifidobacterium lactis HN019™. Bifidobacterium lactis HN019™ is clinically proven to support digestive and immune health, enhance natural and cellular immunity, and improve gut transit time.*

Here are some more benefits of Optiflora DI:
    Supports regularity of bowel movements*2
    Balances intestinal flora*
Introduces more good bacteria to the gut*1
Helps reduce occasional gas, bloating, and constipation*2

Additionally, Optiflora doesn’t require refrigeration and contains no gluten, soy, or dairy. It’s a great probiotic solution for most.

It is worth noting that adding a new probiotic to your regimen may cause some gas and bloating for the first few days. This is normal, as your body is adjusting to the new good bacteria. Your digestive environment will be changing, which is what causes these typically mild side effects. Usually, these side effects subside within a few days, but be sure to consult your physician if they last longer than two weeks.

  • Support Intestinal Microbial Balance and Add Good Bacteria to the Gut*

Many people want to add probiotics to their supplement regimen, but they don’t know where to start. Which bacteria are best? How many should you take? These are common questions, and it can admittedly get pretty overwhelming when you’re diving into the world of gut health.

We’ve made it simple with our three products that are all designed to support the microbial balance of your gut and deliver good bacteria. Even if you already take our Pearl Probiotic, you can add Optiflora® DI to your regimen. These two work together to add more good bacteria to your gut. Our prebiotic provides them with a good source to grow, thrive, and multiply. Instead of spending hours on research, you can simply combine our probiotic and prebiotic products with an easy daily regimen. You can also order them à la carte if you prefer.

Many of our customers also commonly ask what the main differences are between our two probiotic supplements.

    Let’s take a look:
The types of bacteria: The first obvious difference will be listed right on the bottle. Optiflora Pearl contains two strains of bacteria — Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Optiflora DI contains four strains of bacteria — Bifidobacterium lactis HN019™, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG. Pearl’s strains are known for helping the digestive system maintain a healthy balance.* Optiflora’s Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 has been clinically proven to provide support to the digestive and immune systems.*
The CFU number: CFU refers to colony-forming units. Essentially, this number tells you how many bacteria in the probiotic are able to divide and form colonies. Pearl contains a total of 500 million CFU, while Optiflora DI contains 10 billion CFU. In the case of probiotics, more doesn’t necessarily equate to better. The important factor is the dosage and the impact of the beneficial strains.
Triple-layer encapsulation: You may notice that our Optiflora DI doesn’t have the patented triple-layer encapsulation that Pearl has. This is due to the fact that Bifidobacterium lactis HN019™ has been proven to survive the passage from the digestive tract to the large intestine on its own. The bacteria in Pearl needs triple-layer encapsulation to ensure it makes it to this part of the gut to deliver the maximum benefit.

While it’s good to know the difference between these two probiotics, there’s no reason that you have to choose. Taking both probiotics is a healthy and safe regimen, so you’re free to incorporate both of them into your daily life. For children and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, it’s a good idea to consult a physician first. For the most part, anyone can take our prebiotic and probiotic supplements to support a healthy, optimal digestive and immune system. Choose the best combination for you, and start feeling better and healthier!
